Here’s a quick video of Baby Bob slinking around his habitat. Bob was a wild orphan and retained more instincts and characteristics typical to a wild bobcat such as being shy and cautious. Those natural cautious instincts are visible in this clip as he pauses a couple of times when approaching his food. He knows that someone other than his main keeper is taking a video from the side, so this makes him more cautious than usual. The video cuts out because the staff member who took it could see that Baby Bob did not seem very comfortable with their presence, so they made the decision to step away so that he could enjoy his meal. This is one of the many reasons that certain animals like Baby Bob are typically fed while we are closed to the public. While many of our animals don’t seem to be affected by people standing around while they are eating, with an animal like Baby Bob, he wouldn’t be able to eat his dinner in peace if he had visitors all around watching him. We want all of our rescued animal friends to feel comfortable, so on your next visit it is about 99.9% unlikely that you will witness Baby Bob being fed, because that it what is best for Baby Bob.
